Michael Bevins served as Treasurer for the Athens City School Board from the time he was first elected in 1987 until 1997. In 1997 he was elected Chairman and continues to serve in that capacity. He is a past Southeast District Director for the Tennessee School Board Association and a past officer of the association, having served most recently as Vice President. He has attained level IV in the Boardsmanship Award Program. Mr. Bevins is Executive Vice President-Trust for Citizens National Bank and is past President of the Tennessee Bankers Association Trust Division. He is active in the community, having served on the Boards for the Athens Area YMCA, McMinn Living Heritage Museum and Tennessee Wesleyan College Advisory Council. Mike is also a past President of the Athens Rotary Club. Mr. & Mrs. Bevins attend Keith Memorial United Methodist Church, where he has served on several committees of the church and she is very active in the Mother's Day Out program. Mike and Kathy, married for 34 years, have two grown children, both who attended the Athens City School System. Greg, who attended UT-Knoxville, lives and works in Knoxville. Lisa graduated from UT-Knoxville with a Master's Degree in elementary guidance. She is now a guidance counselor at Ocoee Middle School. Mike's hobbies include reading, golf and hiking. His favorite sports are UT football and basketball.
