JIM NELSON

Jim Nelson was elected to the Athens City School Board in the fall of 2002. He has been very active in the community for many years and is presently serving on the Boards of the McMinn County Education and Community Foundation and the Athens Kiwanis Club. He is also Treasurer and an Elder for Mars Hill Presbyterian Church. Jim has served as Chairman of the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce and is past President of the Local United Way. He is also a past Board Member of the YMCA. Mr. Nelson was honored as the Athens' "Man of the Year" in 1995.

Jim's wife, Freddie, is a retired RN and is now taking care of the home and children. Robert is a seventh grader at Athens Junior High School, and Elizabeth is in third grade at City Park Elementary School. Freddie has been very active in the City Park PTA, serving as Treasurer for many years.

Mr. Nelson has been the Edward Jones Investment Representative for eighteen years. He enjoys golf, working in the yard, and watching his son and daughter play basketball.
