City Park is celebrating International week this week, ending with a big celebration on Friday.  The children have focused on different countries each day of the week.  The activities on Friday focus on different “stations” that students and parents can visit.  The Family Engagement Committee have taken the lead on this activity.  City Park’s always an exciting place to visit – but more exciting this week!  City Park’s 3rd graders will be visiting Westside on Thursday, May 8.  This makes for an easier transition for students.

Westside’s Victor and Beta Club members leave Friday for their annual visit to the Biltmore Estate.  They’ll leave early and return late.  What a beautiful time to go to Asheville!  On Tuesday, the 4th graders observe Farm City Day at Westside.

Ingleside is having its last Book Fair on Monday and Tuesday.  It’s time to get some good books for the summer.

Athens Jr. High has several important, upcoming events:

Four Star students will be visiting City Park on Monday, May 12.  This visit introduces them to elementary school, the teachers, and the building.

North City students are preparing for their last PTO meeting next week.  The Curriculum Fair/Art Show/Spring Chorus Concert begins at 7 p.m. in the gym on Thursday, May 15.

If you’re a parent, you know kids are constantly getting a cut or a scrape, especially in the warm months.  Sometimes we have questions about treating them.  Should we use water or hydrogen peroxide?  Should we cover the wound or let it breathe?  Should we go to the emergency room?

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta offers the following advice:

If you see the following problems, see a doctor:

Remember, water keeps us well – both inside and out!

May is National Physical Fitness/Sports Month, so go outside and enjoy the pretty weather.  This week is Teacher Appreciation Week – May 5-9, so many thanks to all the teachers who work so hard to educate our students.   Have a safe, healthy week!
