AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT

The Federal Americans with Disabilities Act protects persons with disabilities, those who associate with the disabled and those who help or encourage others to exercise rights granted by the act. The Athens City School District wants to ensure these rights are protected and that everyone can participate in or benefit from the system's programs, services and activities offered. It is the right of each person to ask for a reasonable accommodation if it has not been provided.

Despite the best efforts of the district, problems may arise; therefore, a grievance procedure has been established to ensure a complaint will be heard.

Janey Morris, Supervisor of Special Education and Federal Projects, directs compliance efforts.  Those who have problems or ADA-related questions may call 423-745-1516.
