Chris Liner

Chris Liner is the vice-chairman of the Athens Board of Education and is a member of the TSBA legislative Network Board of Directors. He is also serving on the Athens City Schools Technology Committee and was instrumental in helping develop our current district-wide technology plan.

Chris and his wife LeAnn have three children. Their daughter Mayson is a 7th grader at Athens Junior School. Emily is a 4th  grader at North City School, and son Creed is in kindergarten Ingleside School. The family attends Keith Memorial United Methodist Church, where Chris is a lay leader and teaches Sunday School for grades K-6. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Child Development Center at Keith Church.

Mr. Liner is employed as a producer at Athens Insurance. He attended the University of Kentucky on a golf scholarship and was captain of their golf team from 1991-1993. He graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan College in 1994 with a BS degree in Secondary Education. Chris was educated in the Athens City School System and, in spite of his busy schedule, is very active in the community. He is a member of the Athens City Council Advisory Committee and served on the 2008-09 United Way fund distribution panel. He has been a member of the Kiwanis Club of Athens since 1997 and currently serves on the Economic Development Authority of McMinn County and the Children's Advocacy Center Board of Directors. He is the chairman of the Jimmy Liner Memorial Christmas Parade committee. He serves on the board of directors of the HOPE Center. Chris loves Labrador Retrievers and enjoys golf and camping.
