JIM NELSON
Jim Nelson was elected to the Athens City School Board in the fall of 2002. He has been very active in the community for many years. He is an Elder for Mars Hill Presbyterian Church. Jim has served as Chairman of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and is past President of United Way and the McMinn County Education & Community Foundation. Jim has served on the boards of the YMCA, Kiwanis, and Economic Development Authority. Mr. Nelson was honored as the Athen's "Man of the Year" in 1995.
Jim's wife, Freddie, is a retired RN. They have two children. Robert, 19, attends Tennessee Wesleyan College; and Elizabeth, 15, attends McMinn County High School.
Mr. Nelson has been a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones for 25 years. He enjoys golf, working in the yard, and helping his son and daughter mature into responsible citizens.
