Harold "Prof" Powers

Harold "Prof" Powers lives in Athens with his wife, Ozelle. He is a former teacher and principal, having served 33 years at City Park School. He is still a regular visitor in the schools, with students systemwide enjoying his storytelling. Prof has been selected as National Conservation Educator of the Year, and is considered the father of school camping in Tennessee. He served as Scoutmaster for 33 years and saw 183 young men become Eagle Scouts under his direction. Needless to say, he is a lover of the outdoors. Mr. Powers is also a former mayor of Athens. Prof and Ozelle have two children. Their daughter, Kathy Nichol, is Special Services Director of Baldwin County Schools, Alabama; and son, Kris, is Projects Coordinator for the Parks and Recreation Department of Athens. They have four grandchildren: Adam, Blake, Corbin and Dannah Powers.
