     Unit 2 tells the story of the Civil War, its many causes, and its complex aftermath.  In the course of studying this unit, students will discover how economic differences divided Americans in the North and South, how slavery became the flash point for the conflict between the two regions, how Abraham Lincoln led the country during this serious challenge to the Union, and how slavery in the United States finally came to an end as a result of the Civil War.
