Mission Statement

River Valley Adult Education is a program under the Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Athens. Adult Education (AE) empowers individuals to become self-sufficient by providing the basic skills and knowledge necessary to complete a secondary education. Tennessee Adult Education provides basic skills upgrades and works with individuals to help them meet their educational and career goals. We have classes across the state to enhance future employment opportunities and personal growth: Adult Basic Education (ABE), High School Equivalency test preparation for those who have not completed high school, and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).

We offer free classes for preparation of the High School Equivalency Diploma (GED & HiSET) along with college and career readiness.

Our Service Delivery Area currently has classes being held in Dayton, Spring City, Decatur, and Athens, Tennessee. Rhea County residents call (423)365-5020. Meigs and McMinn Counties call (423) 745-5111.
