As always the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We wanted to inform you that earlier this afternoon we were made aware of a threat circulating on social media. Through coordinated efforts between Athens Police Department and the local office of the Department of Homeland Security, authorities believe the threat to be intended for Athens, Georgia and not Athens, Tennessee. As an extra security measure and peace of mind for our students and staff, we will have an enhanced security presence on our campuses over the next several days.

Athens City Schools hosted the Southeast Tennessee School Board Association Fall District Meeting this evening at the Athens City Intermediate School. It was an honor to welcome TSBA and the southeast school board districts to Athens.
A special congratulations to ACS School Board Member Emily Forrest. She received the Level 1 Boardmanship Award this evening.
ACP and ACI students will be coming home with EG Fisher Library Card applications this week. Be sure to return them to your child's school by September 13 to receive a free public library card. For questions, please reach out to your child's school librarian.
ACS Parents: Due to abundance of caution, ACP and ACI students and staff were evacuated from the building due to a false fire alarm due to dust. All students and staff have returned to normal schedule.
