Ronnie McMahon

Ronnie McMahan attended Athens City Schools from 1976-1988. He attended Ingleside Elementary and Athens Junior High School.  As a student, he became involved in student council, school plays, FCA, basketball, and soccer, which changed his life and career. From 1988 to 1991, he attended McMinn County High School in Athens, TN, where he earned a basketball scholarship to Vanderbilt University. McMahon was an All-SEC Freshman team 92, All-SEC team 94 and 95, 2nd in school history for 3 pointers made, and 5th in school history for 3 pointers scored.

One of his fondest memories of Athens City Schools as a student was every morning at 6:30 am for five years, Mr. Harrell would open the gym at Ingleside for us to practice free throws.  He was also teaching us life lessons about being prepared, being on time, trusting others, and hard work. I will never forget our talks and his jokes.

Ronnie is currently the Dean of Students for 9th/10th grade at Montgomery Bell Academy, Assistant Football Coach for 8th Grade, and Assistant Varsity Coach for High School Basketball.  He lives in Nashville, TN.

One piece of advice he would like to leave with ACS students is to trust the faculty, the coaches, and administrators as much as possible. They are all trying to help them be the best versions of themselves, and they want you to achieve success at the highest level. No matter who you are, where you came from, or how you got there. Believe in one another and encourage each other to strive for greatness!
