Congratulations to AJ Whited, Athens City Primary PE Teacher, who was awarded the Recreation Professional Award at the TAHPERD (TN Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance) Annual Convention. Coach AJ is instrumental in the Athens City Schools Camp Oo-tah-nee-noh-chee program that provides a unique recreation experience to ACS students with an outdoor classroom environment with focus on team building and numerous physical education opportunities for students to learn and experience such as archery, fishing, canoeing, ropes course, volleyball, nine square, water safety, building camp fires, and walking nature trails. Camp Oo-Tah-Nee-Noh-Chee has been offering programs for students for 74 years. This award is given to an individual who serves as a positive role model that demonstrates enthusiasm by implementing creative, innovative, safe and effective courses/recreation program.
