Kids Connection students participated in a special program for parents. They sang songs with motions performed dances.

20 Year Celebration of Kids Connection Extended Learning Program in Athens City Schools. Today we celebrated this special milestone of the incredible program provided to the families and students at Athens City Schools. It provides before and after care for students grades PreK-8th grade. It strives to provide a safe, educationally enriching, fun and rewarding experience for all students of Athens City Schools during the hours where there may be no adult supervision in the home. Kids Connection students have the opportunity to engage in activities that will benefit them emotionally, physically, and educationally. The program includes crafts, sports and games, snacks, art and music, field trips, and many other creative and cultural activities. A special time each day is provided for homework and tutorial assistance, if needed. The program is conducted and planned by staff trained to meet the needs of children and to provide positive adult role models. Parent involvement opportunities are provided for families. The program is so appreciative of the community partnerships that provide classes, demonstrations, and ongoing support for Kids Connection. The celebration today showcased students singing, dancing, artwork on display, slideshow through the years, and other projects that students had participated in. Thank you to the Kids Connection leadership team that started the program 20 years ago and to the staff that is working today. Excellence Is…ACS Kids Connection!

Public Works brought their Enviroscape program on pollution in and around your neighborhood. Kids Connection students enjoyed learning how to help their environment.

Kids Connection students have enjoyed a variety of activities this week including making a volcano, readers theatre, watercolor painting and Teddy Bear week.
